ZAMBIA QUALIFIES FOR JUNIOR WORLD CUP – U20
Colorful Zambian fans were on hand to see our “Young Chipolopolo” book passage to Canada 2007 where the next prestigious FIFA Junior World Cup will be held. An early phone call this morning from a Nigeria friend came as a surprise. THANK YOU, THANK YOU – ZAMBIA, he exclaimed. For once I wanted to know what he was thankful for, then he blasted into … CONGRATULATIONS, CONGRATULATIONS … I was still wondering what he was congratulating me for when he broke the news. The Zambian U-20 just qualified to their World Cup appearance in Canada.
As to what he was thankful for, a trillion algorithms were still going on in my medulla oblongata when he finally said, remember how the “Eagle” dodged the “bullet” earlier in the week? It was because Zambia lost to Nigeria that the Nigerian side actually made it to the qualifying appearance. The young Eagles (Nigerian side) dodged the Bullet (Zambian side – Chipolopolo) by a 3-2 margin this week.
It was at this time that it all added up; once again the young lads are making Zambia proud. What a classy performance they put on!!! The Chipolopolo Fans were cheering all the way and what ecstasy winning brings – what pride to the nation winning bestows and today Zambia is happier because our “Sports Ambassadors” represented the whole nation with class. Thank you Chipolopolo guys you made us proud, thank you coaching team, you made us sigh knowing Zambia is still a force to reckon with when it comes to soccer … wishing you all God’s speed to Canada and thanks a trillion.
