World International Boxing Association (WIBA) president Ryan Wissow confirmed that Zambia’s female boxing star Esther will fight Brazil-based Duda Yankovich in the light welterweight category instead of super featherweight champion Melissa Hernandez of the USA as earlier announced.

“There has been a change of plan. Esther can no longer make 130 pounds [58.9 kg] and her manager asked me to arrange another title fight at a higher weight. So I got Duda Yankovich to defend her WIBA light welterweight world title at 140 pounds [63.5kg] against Esther Phiri on December 26th at Woodlands Stadium,” Wissow announced.

Phiri’s trainer Anthony Mwamba of Exodus Stables refused to confirm the development, saying he would announce when the right time comes.

“I am her trainer and I will tell you when everything is set,” said Mwamba.
