Zambia Leads The World - Least Expensive/Fastest Adoption Programs
Posted by brainsplus under Adoptions, Aids, Blogroll, US, africa, married parents, single parents, zambia
The Zambian Enterprise leads the world with the least expensive as well as fastest adoption programs currently available. In fact, the International Adoption Agency lists Zambia on behalf of the whole continent as
the best place for adoption.
This is actually a great blessing in disguise as local entrepreneurs could engage in a little more charity enterprising by providing philanthropic shelter as they work with this agency in preparing adoptions thereby alleviating prevalent the street kids quandary.
The American families are in a hurry to adopt but in most countries the legal framework is not only cost prohibitive but also laborious dragging on for years, in some cases. Zambia is the first African country under the auspices of the International Adoption Agency to be open for both married and single adopting parents in the US; Homeland Security (INS) approved families could be traveling as early as this summer (2007) … thanks a trillion.

Zambian Adoption
Compare countries at a glance
Available Children
Children of all ages are available for adoption, including newborns! We are so excited to have a program where siblings can be adopted simultaneously. The children are cared for in private orphanages. The little country of Zambia, nestled in the heart of Africa has one of the highest number of orphaned children of any country in the world. It is estimated that 27% of all children in Zambia have lost their mother, father or both parents. It is estimated by some that in the urban areas three-quarters of families are already caring for at least one orphaned child. The number of orphaned children who live on the streets in Zambia has increased 250% in the past ten years.
Most orphanages will test the children for HIV and AIDS at the time of admittance. There will be a required medical exam once the Zambian adoption is complete and the child gets his or her immigrant visa medical exam. Adoptive parents may choose to get a blood test done after they have been given guardianship and before the adoption is complete. This can be performed by a US Embassy appointed physician.
Once a child has been selected by the adoptive parents, the Social Services Department will submit a fostering order so that the child can stay in the care of the adoptive parents for the remainder of their time in Zambia.
Parent Requirements
Applications from traditional, married couples will be accepted as well as singles. At least one parent needs to be age 25. There is no upper age requirement. There are no income requirements. There are no religious requirements. There is no restriction on the size of an adopting family.
Travel to Zambia
The cost of travel will depend on which travel option you choose. Option A is when one trip is made for approximately three weeks. Option B is when two trips are made within just two or three weeks apart and each one lasting about one week. Either option you choose, FCF and the American Embassy in Lusaka strongly urge that both members of a married couple travel to spend time with their new child. This will allow for the adoption to be finalized in Zambia, and the child will travel home on an IR-3 visa and be a US citizen upon arriving home.
You will be amazed at the mall shopping options in Lusaka! You can purchase clothing, shoes, and personal care products at PEP Stores, and nearly anything else at a South African chain store called The Game Store. You may want to consider taking formula and diapers in your luggage as these items are expensive to purchase in Zambia.
For those that qualify for the $10,600 Adoption Tax Credit, ALL if not nearly all of your Zambian Adoption fees and travel expenses can be reimbursed to you by the US Federal Government over a period of one to five years.
The Fees
Please contact Faithful Adoption for a complete listing of the fees. This new program carries some of the lowest international adoption fees of any program available today. And best of all, a sibling group and non-related children may be adopted simultaneously at very little additional cost.

Note: FCF would like to state that an adoption from Zambia by US citizens can be done independently and without the use of an adoption agency and/or facilitator. But should you desire help with your adoption, the FCF program was developed to give assistance in your documentation preparation, travel arrangements, and in-country facilitation.
